Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a youth at risk?

A young person at risk could be someone involved in gangs, using drugs and/or alcohol, at risk of dropping out of school, or simply at risk for not reaching their full potential. A teenager who doesn't have a sense of belonging or their place in the future is at risk.

Where do our youth come from?

Our students are referred by our partner schools. Teachers and counselors recommend students who are then invited to voluntarily participate. They are from diverse backgrounds and range in age from 14- 16.

How is our mentoring different?

  1. We help youth visualize a future of possibility that inspires them.
  2. We offer tools to support young people in reaching for what inspires them.
  3. Youth become aware of their thoughts and the actions that manifest from those thoughts.
  4. They learn to make responsible choices.
  5. Our young people discover limiting beliefs and habits that have prevented them from achieving their goals.
  6. We offer "best in class" mentor training including how to establish a powerful relationship with their student.
  7. We have a unique community of adults and teenagers that come together regularly to support one another in monthly workshops.
  8. Mentors receive a high level of support consistently throughout the program.
