Youth Enrollment Volunteers Needed! Ever wonder where we find the amazing youth that are part of CYAR? Come discover and support the Steps Ahead Youth Enrollment process at both Aurora Central (AC) and George Washington (GW) high schools! Youth Enrollments are the first formal interaction our teens have with CYAR, and this is your invitation to come play with us. Youth Enrollment Volunteers support the teens in getting to the youth enrollment, getting their questions answered, and they also interview the teens for the program. Youth Enrollments are 3-hours long usually in the evenings or Saturdays starting Feb 23 and concluding by Mid April. Contact Drew by email or call 303-623-9140 if you are interested in joining the Youth Enrollment Team for either AC, GW or both! Trainings beginning soon!
Here are the requirements for being on the Youth Enrollment Team:
* Complete the 1-hour Youth Enrollment Team Training before attending a Youth Enrollment
* Sign up to volunteer for at least 3 Youth Enrollments
* Agree to complete 1 hour of Youth Enrollment phone calls the day before or the day of the Youth Enrollment
If you are an upcoming mentor you must have completed all of your Mentor Trainings and paperwork before attending your first Youth Enrollment.
Wanted: Events Team Volunteers Are you looking for a consistent way to be involved with CYAR without the time commitment of mentoring? Would you like to be a part of the CYAR mentor and mentee community? Or, are you just looking for some fun volunteer work in general?
If so, we are looking for about 12 individuals to specifically help with our community workshops. These workshops are in the evening and located at the schools we work in. We would request your time about once an evening every month from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.
An events team volunteer is responsible for supporting the Program Manager before, during, and after the community workshop. Think of it as being the stagehand for a play - you are the one who makes it seem seamless!
If you are interested, please contact Casey.
Launch Course Fun -You Know You Wanna Have It!We are looking for volunteers to come join us at our launch courses in April! We are having two launch courses back to back for the second time in the history of our organization. You can come play! The dates are April 15-17 and April 22-25. Please email John Laney if you are interested. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new mentors and youth, relive the days of your own glorious launch course, or to group low ropesexperience it for your first time (especially if you are a mentor that joined into the Touchstone program). Thanks everyone for helping make history happen! |
Dear friends of Colorado Youth at Risk,
Thank you for helping to make 2009 an incredible year for our agency in so many ways. Thank you to our donors; your on-going support has enabled us to expand our services, serving 270 youth this year. To our mentors, thank you for the time, passion and commitment you have for the youth you mentor. To our volunteers, we do what we do because of your willingness to give and give. We wish you all the Happiest of Holidays and best wishes for 2010. As we come to the end of our fiscal year if you are still considering making a year-end contribution please keep Colorado Youth at Risk in mind. And as you make your New Years Resolution to get involved in your community, come check us out.....mentor or volunteer in other ways. Whether you are investing your time, talent or treasure it will go to a great cause. Fatima, a young lady from South High school tells it best.................. My mentor, Yvette, has taught me so much. She always has faith in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. She has taught me that it doesn't just matter where you come from, if you just believe in yourself and work hard for what you really want, and then you can go anywhere, and do anything. Because of Colorado Youth at Risk, I have gained so much. I've gained a new family. I've learned how to be a better friend and I've come to understand the importance of my education. Today, I don't take anything for granted - I feel confident enough to say that I AM going to college and I CAN make a difference. Thank you,
Fatima CYAR Youth Participant

New Program in Aurora! Who do you know? |

We're Expanding to Aurora Do you live or work in Aurora, or know anyone who does?
This is your chance! Introduce us to YOUR community!
As many of you already know we are expanding our programs into Aurora for the first time ever! We are really excited and hope you are too.
In the past, we have benefited greatly from word of mouth and now more than ever we are hoping this is still the case.
We are coming to YOUR community, but we need YOUR help.
Please think of who you can introduce us to. Are we able to do a brief introduction at your place of work, your social group, or perhaps a local business you visit?
The possibilities are endless and the payoff is HUGE. Let's strengthen Aurora and its youth together.
